Tom Plück – Guitar, Background Vocals
The exceptional guitarist started his musical career at the age of 12. While his friends started to repair their first mopeds, the visually handicapped musician learned autodidactically to play the guitar - next to other instruments as the blues harp, bass and drums.
At the age of 14, he already won a price at a talent-competition with his first cover band. One year later he started a new band with his own songs. Soon they were well known in the musical scene of Cologne. After that, he played in a bunch of bands and got to know different genres as hard rock, blues rock, soul, funk rock and gospel. He worked together with singers of the choir “the harlem gospel singers”. Over the years his way to play the guitar got more and more elaborated and distinctive with a timeless appeal.
In 2017 he and his friend Sean Warwick, who is the singer of the band, started to compose songs. Their collaboration lead to beautiful, expressive and earthy songs. “Burn Out Laut” means to Tom not to only have fun with the music. It also is a message to the society: “Enjoy life, do whatever does you good, take care of each other”.
Tom’s musical spectrum is very wide. Aspects of blues, bluesrock, rock n roll, soul, jazz and funk flow into his way of playing.
Musically formative role models are Jimi Hendrix, Billy Gibbons, Jeff Beck, Keith Richards, T-Bone Walker, Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, Thelonious Monk, Aretha Franklin and John Coltrane. Frank Zappa as a master of style mixes also ranks among his sources of inspiration. German speaking music that influenced him comes from “Udo Lindenberg” and “Die fantastischen Vier”.
Tom’s soul is directly connected to his fingers. He plays the guitar as if it was a part of his own body. Like no other guitar player he combines rhythmic parts with melodic elements. His solos are narratives of emotional powered stories.
The carrying, full ranged sound with a lot of dirt and soul characterizes the sound of “Burn Out Laut”. Tom is the musical creative leader of the band.
Besides of the music he supports handicapped people to participate in the society. He himself is visual impaired since his birth.
At the end of 2018 his visual capacity worsened so bad, that since then he can only see the difference between lightness and darkness. This situation forces him to totally rearrange his life. For that he learns to read Braille and how to orientate outside on the streets. His guitars and his pedalboard are equipped with tactile markings, so he can play his instruments as usual, just without any view.
Tom lives, loves and rocks in Cologne.
